Description: A series of five patterns of clinical presentation is offered, with cases obtained from the files of a clinical oral and maxillofacial pathology practice. Each case illustrates a major pattern of clinical disease presentation. Course participants are provided the opportunity to participate through generation of clinical differential diagnoses. An analysis of each pattern of clinical presentation is offered by the instructor, with delineation of appropriate avenues for patient testing and collection of data. The diagnosis for each case is presented, with a description of case management and follow-up information.
Course Objectives

1. recognize herpetiform, desquamative, locally destructive, commissural inflammatory, and clinically atypical patterns of infectious disease presentation.
2. generate useful differential diagnoses relevant to each of the patterns listed in objective 1.
